The robot was then given the task to deliver the drug to perform micro-surgery on the patient's eye.
This robot is the discovery of Michael Kummer and his team at the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems (IRIS) in Zurich, Switzerland.
Reportedly, this technology soon launched for medical purposes.
Previously, there have been similar robot developed North Carolina State University, the micro robot that can 'swim' in body fluids and serves to clean clotted blood on the blood vessels in the eye.
Now, Kumer further develop these robot types, by adding precision control using magnetic fields. Robot creation Kumer injected into the eye through a needle and electromagnetic controlled to reduce the power requirements of the fuel.
"We hope these micro robots could help treat degenrasi the eye by injecting medication regularly," said Kumer, as reported by PC World,.
He mentioned, these robots have been used in the human eye, but the new tested on a dead pig eyes. Kumer and his team plan to test the robot on the animals that are still alive in the near future.
Not only treat disease degeneration of the eye, the robot is also further developed in order to treat other eye problems and do surgery.
